Stamford Showstoppers and Stamford Corn Exchange bring you their follow up to the successful “Christmas Adventure with Goldilocks & the Three Bears” last December. You will find a plethora of events, workshops and courses on in Rutland throughout the year, from traditional village fetes to fine food markets, there’ll be something to tempt you.
Sporting events
There are many highly regarded sporting events in the county, including the International CiCLE Classic event in April, which attracts many spectators, as well as elite cyclists. Pacesetter Events run a calendar of runs/walks/swims/triathlons to set as your next challenge. Rutland Water offers a fantastic venue for triathlons and duathlons, not to mention sailing and fishing competitions, and there are popular horse trials held at Burghley and Rockingham.
Workshops
Many local attractions have a full calendar of activity; Barnsdale Gardens and Rutland Water Nature Reserve never fail to offer an excellent programme, including vegetable growing, water colour painting, photography, dry stone walling, hedge laying, willow weaving and much more to suit many interests. Make your next break a learning holiday, and come away with a new skill. Take a look at the courses available at Tresillian House and learn the art of cooking by flame with Hoggy’s Grill BBQ school.
Markets
Oakham’s market day is a Wednesday, and there is a Farmers Market on the third Saturday of the month. Uppingham & Stamford’s weekly market days are Friday. These markets create a lovely atmosphere in the towns and provide the chance to pick up local produce.
