As well as the convenient Harbour Cafe overlooking the Rutland Belle pick-up point, an outdoor gym, a seasonal refreshment kiosk and plenty of space for picnics and games, here is what you will find…

Rutland Watersports Centre is situated near Whitwell Harbour and is a great place to try windsurfing, sailing, canoeing or even corporate team building activities.  In addition to professional tuition and equipment hire for all ages, there is also leisure clothing and accessories (by brands including Reef, Kangaroo Poo, Off my Head and Dirty Dog) for sale in the well equipped store.  The centre is a RYA and an AALA registered school.  Contact Rutland Watersports on 01780 460154.

Aqua Park Rutland is a marvel to behold! One of the largest floating inflatable obstacle courses for an ‘it’s a knock out – style’ challenge, operating at Whitwell Harbour from May to September, with a great viewing platform for spectators!

Rumble Live Action Gaming is less than a 15 minute walk from the Whitwell Carpark, this award-winning live action gaming arena offers outdoor laser tag with state of the art equipment in beautiful woodlands.

Cycling around Rutland Water is a favourite activity amongst locals and visitors, the off road circular route is 23 miles – or you can miss out the peninsular to make it 17 miles. Cycle hire is available from Whitwell and Normanton with Rutland Cycling, or bring your own bike and enjoy one of the best cycle routes in England! There are some excellent pubs en-route, where you can reward yourself with some refreshment.

Whitwell is home to Rutland Cycling’s extensive cycle shop with bike hire including easy riding cruisers, lightweight hybrids, mountain bikes, tandems, children’s cycles, buggies for toddlers and electric bikes.

Enjoy a Leisure Cruise: What better way to relax and unwind than with a cruise around Rutland Water? From Good Friday through to the end of October, the Rutland Belle sets sail daily from Whitwell Harbour on a leisurely cruise around the reservoir.

Visitors can enjoy an audio commentary from the knowledgeable and amiable Captain whilst admiring the views of the county from the water.  Refreshments are available on board, with a fully licensed bar, and seating is either under cover or up on deck, weather permitting!

Their Cream Tea Cruises are especially popular and a wonderful way to round off an action packed day!

Special Dawn and Evening Osprey Cruises take place from May to September.  These are organised with the help of the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust and the Birdfair – booking is essential.
