The Sun Inn, Great Easton

A country pub in the Welland Valley, offering inspired cuisine using local ingredients including meat from the pub’s own farm.

Description

We are a beautifully refurbished village pub in the heart of the Welland Valley.

We’ve become a ‘destination’ for discerning diners, but remain at the heart of the community and are popular with locals from the surrounding villages.
Whether you want to enjoy a meal on a special occasion or just pop in for a quick drink (hiking boots and muddy paws are welcome!) we promise a warm welcome.

Top-quality, local meat is at the heart of many of our dishes – and we use beef, lamb and pork from our very own farm here in Great Easton.

The menu is regularly updated to include seasonal ingredients. Just three of the many delights you might find are rack of lamb, with romesco sauce, Roquito pepper salsa and lamb potato hash; wild mushroom & truffle linguine with fresh parmesan and parsley; and Thai monkfish and king prawn curry, with crispy chilli squid, spiced cashew crumb and Basmati rice. Our Gozney pizzas are always popular in the summer, too.

Our private dining space, ‘The Wine Room’, can seat up to 12. Decorated with antique furniture and unique artwork, it creates the perfect setting for your intimate celebration.

If you’re looking for private dining, but want more of an alfresco experience, our ‘Garden Room’ is the perfect spot, overlooking our beautiful Olive Garden (don’t worry – it’s covered and has a real fire if the weather’s chilly!).

Whether you’re visiting for an anniversary, a birthday or any other celebration, our full à la carte menu is available for those enjoying a private dining experience, but our chefs can even create a special menu for you and your guests.

If you’d rather not drive home and would like to make a night or weekend of it, we also have a holiday cottage (which sleeps up to 12 people) just a two-minute stroll from The Sun Inn. Staying in 1 Barnsdale is the perfect opportunity to explore this unspoilt area which is full of history and culture, and popular with walkers, cyclists and country sports enthusiasts.

The Sun Inn, which has been described by Rutland Living as “a gem of a pub”, is owned and run by the Three Goats group – a small hospitality business based in Rutland and Leicestershire. Our other venues include No. 23 in Uppingham, The Nevill Arms in Medbourne and The Red Lion in Great Bowden.
