What happened before you were born? Ambitious new play gives local young performers a world of their own

The Summer Before I Was Born welcomes you to liminal space, exploring love, fate, free will and the possibility of a life before life, performed by a cast of young local actors from Scripted Youth Theatre.

What if there was somewhere before here?

Before first breaths, first memories and first meetings, what if every person had to pass through a strange world of waiting rooms, rules and administrators before finally being allowed to exist?

That is the premise of The Summer Before I Was Born, an ambitious original play written and produced by local playwright Alan Wood, performed by Scripted Youth Theatre at Stamford Corn Exchange on 25 November.

Alan established Scripted Youth Theatre to give young performers ambitious theatrical experiences. His previous work with young people has included performances at Nottingham Playhouse and the National Theatre through National Theatre Connections.
