The Amber Squad Live at The Victoria Hall, Oakham

10 years since they reformed in 2015, The Amber Squad will once again return to play at the famous old Victoria Hall in Oakham, Rutland on Saturday, September 27th, 2025.

The band enjoyed a spell of success in the early ‘80’s with their first single “(I Can’t) Put My Finger On You” receiving national airplay on Radio 1 (including John Peel’s famous nighttime show), and they also toured widely up and down the country, including supporting Geno Washington when he came over to the UK.

After a 30 year hiatus, they reformed for a charity appearance at the Victoria Hall in December 2015, and since then have played regularly at many famous music clubs and venues, including the Hope & Anchor in Islington, and Wild At Heart Club in Berlin. They also have attracted a substantial and loyal following from the “Mod Revival” community, who appreciate their brand of original energetic power pop.

The event on September 27th has been organised to benefit the Victoria Hall, which, like many independent venues, has been experiencing a tough few years in recent times, and which is a much loved and valuable community resource for the people of Oakham and Rutland.

The concert will focus on ‘70s and ‘80s music and also features East Midlands Classic Rockers “Dark Sky Refugee”, as well as much loved local DJ Vernon Stokes who will be dusting off his decks as “Road Hog Disco”. Additional surprises are planned for the night, along with a full bar operated by The Grainstore local brewery.
