The first sign of spring, the arrival of snowdrops provides the perfect excuse to make plans to get outside this February, take beautiful photographs and explore nature with friends, family and your four legged friends!

Barnsdale Gardens Snowdrop Season – 3rd to 28th February

It’s the perfect time to come and indulge yourself in our extensive range of snowdrops planted throughout the gardens. There are lots of our common snowdrops as well as many rare and unusual varieties to see, all mixed in with so much other winter interest. This is a time of year not to be missed!

On the 11th and 14th of February between 11am-2pm, snowdrop expert, Gill Hadland, will be there doing short talks.

Winter and Snowdrops Walk: Breakfast and a Guided Walk, 11th – 15th February. 9:30am – 12:30pm

It’s a great time of year to really see and understand the ideas behind each garden and you’ll be amazed at how much colour there is to enjoy, with brightly coloured bark and berries, drifts of Hellebores and the Geoff Hamilton Winter Border which features over 9000 Snowdrops, all individually planted by hand. Snowdrop Open Days at Rockingham Castle – 18th & 20th February

Discover the tranquil beauty of Rockingham Castle’s Wild Garden as Snowdrops bloom in abundance along their trail; a seasonal highlight that celebrates the promise of new beginnings!

Enjoy a peaceful day surrounded by nature, capture the stunning displays with family and friends, and treat yourself to refreshments from the mobile catering unit. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, making this the perfect winter outing for all. 

The Wild Gardens are open from 11 am- 3 pm.

Spring Wildlife at Rutland Water

Snowdrops and bluebells are beautiful in the woods around Rutland, and the meeting of winter and summer provides the chance to enjoy a multitude of wildlife at Rutland Water Nature Reserve.

Snowdrop Season at Easton Walled Gardens – from Wednesday 12th February

From late January to March, Easton Walled Gardens are covered in drifts of this delicate flower, which emerges from a bulb formed the previous March after sitting in wait for almost a year.

Visit Easton Walled Gardens as the first new growth of the year emerges and snowdrops open up across the Gardens. The Courtyard Shop will be open and hot drinks, savoury snacks and cake will be available from The Applestore or The Coffee Room.

Snowdrop Walk in the Gardens at Burghley House

You can book an exclusive opportunity to tour Burghley’s private South Gardens and Sculpture Garden with their gardening team. With over 250 varieties of snowdrops planted in the Gardens at Burghley, this is a great chance to admire the swathes of snowdrops and the team’s hard work.

This walk will be on the 7th February from 11am – 12:30 pm.

Snowdrop Sundays at Deene Park – 16th & 23rd February

For two Sundays in February (16th & 23rd) from 12 pm to 4 pm, you can visit Deene Park and see their beautiful displays of snowdrops. The Gastropod and Cafe Allez will be onsite both days serving drinks, cakes, and a selection of takeaway hot food as refreshments.
