Britain’s largest ‘Sea Dragon’ which was discovered here in Rutland, the UK’s smallest county at Rutland Water, is being celebrated in Oakham’s Mill Street by world famous street artist, Julian Beever.

Julian Beever is a British artist who began pavement art as a busker, drawing in different countries including the USA, Australia and Europe to fund his travels.

Julian will create a large (but not life size!) anamorphic 3D image in front of the beautiful Crème Hair and Beauty Salon in Mill Street 14th May.  It will be completed on Saturday 14th and will be on show on Sunday 15th 10-12am at the Classic Car Meet.

A visit to Mill Street to view Julian in artistic full flow or to see his completed artwork is a Springtime must; whilst you’re there be sure to take advantage of the diversity of speciality retailers in the area.

Mill Street in Oakham has rapidly become a favoured destination for retail visitors to Rutland. Mill Street Traders include the beautiful jewellery at Heidi Kjeldsen, stunning art at Gladwell Gallery, home decor at Elizabeth Stanhope, and a range of luxury designer and Country clothing at Cavells. Whatever floats your boat Mill Street provides it!

See Julian Beever creating his masterful artwork from Saturday 14th May and spend time browsing the amazing shops and stores in Mill Street, The Maltings, and the rest of the town, and then follow it up the next day with a browse around the Classic Cars in Mill Street on May 15th, 10-12pm.

The artwork and event have been commissioned by the Mill Street Traders Association. With thanks to Anglian Water, in partnership with Rutland County Council and The Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, who have kindly allowed them to use the trademarked name of the Ichthyosaur fossil found at Rutland Water.
