As we see events starting to return to our previously empty diaries, it’s the perfect time for some light relief and live comedy is a great feel-good night out. Join Zoe Lyons and others at Uppingham Theatre on Thursday 19th August for a huge night of stand up comedy.
Presented by Enterlude, a family company established in Rugby Warwickshire in 2017 who has made its mark by bringing “big city” events to the smaller town’s doorstep, to not only entertain but to boost the local night-time economy. An unstoppable husband and wife team, they pooled their organisational expertise to create a business offering diverse, innovative, and engaging events and experiences in the most interesting spaces locally.
Despite the catastrophic impact of the global pandemic on the events and hospitality industry in 2020, the positive relationships with artists, agents, venues and of course their loyal customer base, has allowed Enterlude to hit the ground running in 2021.
Aware of Enterlude’s previous events featuring names such as Paul Sinha, Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff), The Bluetones, Hue & Cry, John Power (Cast & The La’s) and Shaun Ryder, the Uppingham School enterprise team, reached out and offered the opportunity to bring an annual set of events to Uppingham Theatre and we begin with ‘Laugh It Up’ comedy night at Uppingham Theatre on August 19th.
The debut comedy event will be headlined by Zoe Lyons star of Live at The Apollo, Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week. On top of this Zoe is almost resident at Ed Fringe, appeared in the west end with the show Act of God in 2019 not to mention her critically acclaimed Entry Level Human tour and Lightning day time quiz show through 2020.
We welcome Daliso Chaponda – Who first came to our attention when he flew through to the Britain’s Got Talent finals of 2017. Since then, he has solo world tours under his belt, TV appearances including The Royal Variety Performance, a regular on BBC Radio 4 with his highly acclaimed show ‘Citizen of Nowhere’ and the Now show.
Introducing Jack Gleadow an award-winning, stand-up comedian from Hull, Jack, is one of the most unique performers on the UK comedy circuit today. He takes his inspiration from the golden era of variety; Jack is the One-Man Variety Show with the use of sounds, stories, jokes, and a scooter!
Our MC for the night is Craig Murray, who you will all know best as the bloke in the Plusnet ads! Craig started as resident compere at London club The Funny Side…of Covent Garden, before branching out with his own stand-up sets. He is now a regular act and compere on the UK circuit.
Enterlude hope their events will have impact on the town and its surrounding area that they have had elsewhere and connect with local community and businesses and put them at the heart of what they do.
