In early summer the roses in Burghley’s picturesque South Gardens are in full bloom offering glorious displays of colour and wonderful fragrances. Join Head Gardener, Joe Whitehead, for an unmissable afternoon appreciating the beauty of our most popular and diverse garden plant. Included in the Rose Talk, Tour & Tea afternoon:
- Rose Talk – Learn about the history of the rose and rose planting at Burghley which is home to over 120 rose varieties. Joe will share his guide to rose growing, covering successful cultivation and rose selection
- Afternoon Tea – Enjoy drinks, cakes and sweet treats at the beautiful Summer House overlooking the lake (weather permitting)
- Garden Tour – Joe will guide you around the beautiful South Gardens and Sculpture Garden, pointing out particular planting displays of interest. Only open to visitors on a handful of occasions through the year, the Rose Tour is a rare opportunity to explore the beautiful twenty-eight acre private gardens.
