SUMMARY:Sid Burnard Exhibition 2026
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to announce a new exhibition of creations by Sid Burnard\, opening on Saturday 25th April 2026. \nSid Burnard is putting together objects that make profound\, witty and beautiful remarks about life\, the universe and everything. Sam Llewellyn\, acclaimed thriller writer and children’s author \nThere is something irresistible in the way Sid turns random detritus into objects of movement\, elegance and wit. Simon Beaufoy\, screenwriter\, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ \nThis will be 78 year old Sid Burnard’s 4th Goldmark show. His work is made from the jetsam he finds lying about on beaches\, riverbanks and hedges. What others may think of as junk Sid treats as precious cargo to fetch back to his studio\, study and play with\, until he finally and magically transforms them into a bird\, a beast\, an insect or a boat.

SUMMARY:CiCLE Classic
DESCRIPTION:The CiCLE Classic is Britain’s own Belgian classic style race. It has everything – farm tracks\, steep inclines\, competitive racing and a gruelling drive to the line. \nFirst held in 2005 as a national level race within the British Cycling Premier Calendar series at that time\, by 2007 the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic was added to the UCI international calendar as a class 1.2 event. It has remained Britain’s only one day race for elite men within the UCI Europe Tour calendar since that time. \nHaving existed for over 20 years the race is now the longest ever running single day international race in the history of British cycle sport. CiCLE Classic is THE British Classic. \nAimed at breaking the mold of so many British races held over several laps of a single repetitive circuit\, the event was planned as a place to place race emulating the famous Spring classic races of Northern Europe such as the Ronde van Vlaanderen or Paris-Roubaix. \nThe neighbouring and inter-related towns of Oakham in Rutland and Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire continue after 20 years to provide the perfect start and finish venues for the race. \nBeyond the race\, if you want to stay longer and discover our amazing county\, check out our Guide.

SUMMARY:Simon Yates of Touching the Void
DESCRIPTION:My Mountain Life\nA fascinating and humorous evening\, acclaimed by both regular theatre patrons and outdoor enthusiasts alike! \nOn the remote Siula Grande in Peru in June 1985\, mountaineer Simon Yates found himself in a desperately unenviable position. He was slowly being pulled off the mountain face by his injured partner\, Joe Simpson\, dangling on the rope 50 metres below. His decision to cut the rope saved both their lives in the epic of survival that followed and with the publication of the book ‘Touching The Void’\, later film and stage play\, both climbers became household names. \nIt was an experience that could have put many off the sport of mountaineering – but not Simon. Over 35 years later\, he is still a very active exploratory climber and guide\, making several expeditions to the mountains each year. From the Arctic to the Antarctic\, Alaska to Central Asia there is hardly a significant range that he has not visited. \nCome along and witness Simon’s tireless journey from that mountain in Peru to some of the remotest on the planet and share with him the drama\, excitement and beauty of modern\, lightweight alpinism. Told with wit\, dry humour and lavishly illustrated with images and film collected on his great climbs.

SUMMARY:Tony Stockwell: Psychic Medium
DESCRIPTION:Remarkably compelling\, amazingly detailed\, and always humorous The popular star of TV’s Street Psychic\, Psychic Private Eyes and Psychic Academy\, Tony Stockwell has a long-established credibility as one of the top Intuitive Mediums. Tony demonstrates his belief that those who have passed can communicate with their loved ones with detailed messages frequently including names\, dates\, and locations and all delivered with emotion\, sensitivity\, and empathy. The evening may include psychometry\, photograph readings and psychic prediction. \nRecent legislative guidelines insist that any Evening of Mediumship should be billed ‘for entertainment purposes’. Tony certainly uses his natural wit\, showmanship\, and Cockney charisma to entertain but more important\, Mediumship has the potential to change someone’s life and instil in them a sense of peace\, comfort\, and purpose. We hope that nobody can fail to come away untouched by the experience.
