SUMMARY:Vivaldi's Four Seasons and the Lark Ascending by Candlelight
DESCRIPTION:Experience breathtaking music by some of classical music’s greatest composers\, performed by some of the country’s finest classical musicians\, all presented in stunning candlelight. \nAt the heart of the concert is Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons\, the most recorded work in classical music and a defining showpiece for solo violin. Each concerto depicts a different season\, shaped by accompanying poems – possibly written by Vivaldi himself. Across the four concertos\, Vivaldi transforms the natural world into vivid musical scenes\, evoking birdsong and buzzing flies\, harvest celebrations\, drunken revellers\, barking dogs\, summer storms and winter ice. \nAlongside this\, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending\, composed on the eve of the First World War\, offers a more reflective perspective. Inspired by George Meredith’s poem\, it captures a pastoral world on the brink of change\, its soaring violin line suggesting a lark gliding high above the mechanised world below\, “lost on his aerial rings / In light\, and then the fancy sings.” \nOpening the programme we have Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro\, an opera drawn from Beaumarchais’ recently banned comedy\, in which a philandering count attempts to seduce his servant’s fiancée\, only to be outmanoeuvred by the servants and his own long-suffering wife. \nWhether you’re already in the know or completely new to classical music\, this is a programme to be enjoyed by all. \nProgramme to include:\n\nMozart – Overture to The Marriage of Figaro\nVaughan Williams – The Lark Ascending\nMozart – Flute Quartet in D\nVivaldi – The Four Seasons \nARTISTS\nHannah Perowne Soloist \nLondon Concertante

SUMMARY:Halloween Adventure Trail & Crafts at Belvoir Castle
DESCRIPTION:Belvoir Castle’s Halloween trail is returning to the Adventure Playground and Animal Park\, with a new run of craft sessions launching in the Retail Village at the point where the trail concludes.\n\nThe adventure starts well before that\, though. Across Belvoir’s adventure playground\, spell ingredients have been hidden among the climbing frames and walkways\, setting children the task of tracking them all down to brew a counter-curse. It’s a proper piece of Halloween theatre rather than a simple trail marker hunt – every child who completes it earns the official title of Belvoir Castle Curse Breaker\, along with a treat to mark the achievement. That sense of quest and reward carries the story from the Adventure Playground to the Animal Park and Retail Village\, where visitors follow the seasonal trail through to its conclusion.\n\nVisitors following the seasonal trail arrive\, story complete\, in the Retail Village – and it’s here that the estate has added a programme of Halloween-themed craft activities\, giving families a tactile way to round off their visit. Rather than the trail simply ending\, the crafts extend it: children can create their own take-home pieces inspired by the characters with the helpful hands of the Belvoir Witches.\n\nThe craft sessions are priced at £4.50 and have been designed with flexibility in mind. They work as a natural add-on for anyone already visiting the Adventure Playground for the trail\, but they also stand alone – a shorter\, self-contained activity for families who want a Halloween outing without committing to the full walk. That dual approach reflects a wider shift in how heritage sites like Belvoir are thinking about seasonal programming: less about a single ticketed experience\, and more about a menu of options that visitors can mix and match according to time\, weather\, and how long small legs are willing to walk.\n\nSessions can be booked in advance\, and spaces are also available on the day for those who haven’t reserved ahead\, subject to availability.\nGardens & Adventure Playground Tickets are £10 per adult\, £6 per child.\nHalloween Crafts are £4.50 per child.\nBelvoir Animal Park will be open every day in October Half Term\, 9:30am – 4pm\, not just the weekends.
