SUMMARY:The Uppingham Fatstock Show
DESCRIPTION:This time-honoured agricultural showcase proudly staged each year by a dedicated committee from the local farming community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the traditions of rural life up close – a true celebration of livestock\, land\, and local pride. \nAfter a lapse of 10 years during the Second World War and rationing the Uppingham Fatstock Show was revived by a committee of local farmers in 1949. The show was held on December 15th when 17 cattle were shown\, 13 pens of sheep and 11 pigs. After that revival the show has been kept alive and prospered due to the efforts of the local community. \nIn 2017 the Committee has revised the native breed cattle class\, making it open to cattle sired by a pure bred bull currently on the Rare Breed Survival List of Native Breeds. This compliments the class in the pig section which has been in force for several years. \nList of Elgible Sires:\nAberdeen Angus\, Ayshire\, Beef Shorthorn\, Belted Galloway\, Britich White\, Devon\, Dexter\, Galloway\, Gloucester\, Guernsey\, Hereford\, Highland\, Irish Moiled\, Jersey\, Lincoln Red\, Longhorn\, Luing\, Northern Dairy Shorthorn\, Red Poll\, Shetland\, Shorthorn\, South Devon\, Sussex\, Welsh Black\, White Park\, Whitebread Shorthorn\, Vaynol. \nList of Eligible Pigs:\nBritish Lop\, Large Black\, Middle White\, Berkshire\, Tamworth\, Welsh\, British Saddleback\, Gloucester Old Spot\, Oxford Sandy & Black\, Large White.
