Northants & Rutland Open Studios is more than an art festival – it is an opportunity to explore hidden studios\, beautiful villages\, bustling towns\, country gardens\, galleries\, and creative spaces\, while meeting the artists who make our region such a vibrant place to visit. \nFrom painting\, ceramics\, and sculpture to textiles\, printmaking\, jewellery\, photography\, and glass\, every venue offers something different. Some artists will be opening their working studios\, others will be exhibiting together in shared spaces and galleries\, creating exciting opportunities to experience a wide variety of work in one visit. \nStart your journey at our Central Exhibition at Lamport Hall\, running from 5th September – 3rd October\, Wednesday to Sunday\, 10am-4pm. Bringing together work from artists across both counties\, it is the perfect place to discover new artists\, plan your route\, and be inspired to explore further afield. Explore traditional crafts\, meet costumed re-enactors and experience the sights\, sounds and stories of medieval camp life. \nMedieval walking tours \nJoin Nicola\, our knowledgeable tour guide\, for a special mini walking tour of Oakham as we celebrate Rutland Day and the town’s rich medieval heritage. Discover fascinating tales of medieval life\, meet colourful local characters from the past\, and explore some of Oakham’s most historic buildings and landmarks. As you wander through the town\, you’ll uncover stories that bring its remarkable history to life and see the medieval features that still remain today. \nMedieval dress is optional\, but everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy this journey through Oakham’s impressive past. \nAll tours are free on Rutland Day and start at Oakham Castle. \nOutdoor Lawn Games \nChallenge your friends and family to our larger-than-life lawn games at the event. Have a go at giant Jenga\, Connect 4 and\, in true Rutland spirit\, Horseshoe Throwing. \nCircus Workshops \nStep right up and discover the magic of the circus with hands-on Circus Skills Workshops.
